Behind the Scenes at History Colorado

May 7

About the tour:

Join DAF for an architecture-focused tour of the History Colorado Collection. The tour will begin with a curatorial talk with Anna Mascorella, Temple Buell Associate Curator of Architecture, on the Denver Diorama, currently on display in the exhibit Boomtown: Denver, 1860. Attendees will then go behind the scenes to view a selection of architectural drawings from the collection, including the work of Robert Roeschlaub—Colorado’s first licensed architect. For those seeking design inspiration, the tour will also feature architecture-related resources and materials from History Colorado’s archives. This portion of the tour will be led by Stefanie Baltzell, Librarian and Interim Director of Hart Research Library at History Colorado.

About History Colorado:

Established in 1879, History Colorado offers the public access to cultural and heritage resources. History Colorado’s flagship museum, the History Colorado Center, opened in 2012 in Denver’s Golden Triangle Museum District. Designed by Tryba Architects, the center houses core and traveling exhibitions, along with the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, State Historical Fund and Hart Research Library—a portal to our vast collection of books, manuscripts, photography, documents, maps and other artifacts. The center also hosts public programs and events, educational programs and cultural performances.
