Tour guides: Jan & Steve Davis, Homeowners

About the tour: Tour one of the oldest homes in Denver, built in 1875. Learn about key figures in the home’s history and its various uses over the years. The highlight of the tour? The story of the home’s recent stunning renovation, told by the renovators/homeowners themselves.

About the building: The Bosler House is a detached two-story structure with a full basement and a modified cruciform footprint. The building has a tower at the southeast corner. The south and west elevations of the building have projecting gable ends featuring bay windows. The exterior finishes are constructed of masonry set on a stone masonry foundation. Stone trim including sills, keystones and upper corner blocks may be seen at the window and door openings. Painted wood trim and decorative wood brackets line the eaves of the house. At the gable ends, there is similar wood raking trim. Cresting may be seen along the roof’s ridge and at the tower’s roofline. The windows throughout the house are painted double hung wooden windows. The building’s main entrance is on the southern elevation, accessed via a porch. In 1984, the building was designated as a Denver Landmark. The house is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the State Register of Historic Places as part of the Tilden School for Teaching Health Historic District. The building is located in the Highland neighborhood.

About the tour guides: Jan and Steve Davis are the current owners of the Bosler House. Steve acted as owner/builder and oversaw Bosler’s reconstruction. Jan helped design the interior and dedicates herself to the gardens.
