About the Tour: The Theodora Family Hotel is a new construction 5-story homeless shelter owned and operated by Volunteers of America Colorado (VOAC). A stay here will first serve to alleviate the immediate crisis of homelessness in a safe and welcoming environment for residents, and then allow time to work with on-site staff and other community agencies to resolve homelessness and find appropriate affordable housing. The building construction is nearing completion, with the building opening planned for this May. On this tour, we will tour the facility viewing the individual rooms, common areas and a large courtyard that houses a custom playscape.
About the The Theodora Family Hotel: The facility will provide shelter and services primarily for families with minor children, and with designated rooms for veterans. The shelter includes 60 individual rooms, each equipped with a sleeping area, sitting area, bathroom, and kitchenette with mini-fridge and microwave oven. VOAC will provide 3 meals a day for all guests, which will be warmed in the on-site kitchen and served in the common dining area. Additional amenities include shared laundry rooms, a classroom, community lounge, business center, kids spaces, and a large central outdoor courtyard with a playground. The building also includes an underground garage with 27 parking spaces. The facility includes a trauma-informed design and approach, a best practice in human services. Services will include crisis intervention and case management, as well as group educational and social programming.

In her nearly 9-year career at Shopworks, Jenna has worked on many diverse and complex projects in and around Denver, including the Rhonda’s Place permanent supportive housing project, and the recently opened Urban Peak youth homeless shelter.
