Recap: Allen True Murals and Adaptive Reuse at Renaissance Denver Tour
On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, we explored Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center Hotel from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. The Renaissance Hotel is one of Denver’s premier adaptive reuse sites, complete with functioning bank vault doors and grand interiors, as it was formerly home to Colorado National Bank. Michael Gayle, Lead Navigator with the Renaissance Hotel, led the tour.
About the tour: The adventure included the iconic western muralist Allen Tupper True’s Indian Memories – a series of 16 murals – and featured historic elements from the building’s original early 20th century construction as well as an overview of the history of the Colorado National Bank. During the tour patrons visited a guest room, meeting rooms and bank vaults, and were treated to the hotel restaurant’s signature candied habanero bacon.
