GENSLER DENVER OFFICE: EMBRACING SUSTAINABILITY, INNOVATION AND WORKPLACE RESEARCH
What are some characteristics of a great workplace?
Gensler’s Denver Office, designed by Gensler in 2015, focused on the goal of creating the best place to work in Denver. “Our space sets the new standard in Denver for a creative, collaborative work environment, enhancing our ability to innovate and deliver outstanding service to our clients,” according to Jon Gambrill, Principal + Managing Director. Gensler’s team of designers collectively embraced the challenge to celebrate their culture of innovation. The new Gensler office covers two floors and features a variety of environments designed to promote connectivity, choice of work environment and well-being.
Gensler is widely recognized as the world’s leading collaborative design firm, not just the largest. The ability to work together as an integrated team is part of Gensler’s DNA, and they have embraced it at every level, from Co-CEOs to studios and project teams.
The focus of Gensler leadership is on serving clients effectively wherever they need services. Their one-firm firm ethos saves time, cuts costs and delivers innovation. Gensler offers the design industry’s deepest bench of expertise, matched with experience gained by working with clients across the global economy. Gensler brings that broad knowledge to bear on every project and location (About).
Gensler’s own Workplace Research informed all details of this new office’s design; attention to ergonomics, acoustics, air quality, craftsmanship, and the incorporation of nature promote the well-being and performance of all staff.
A Direct Link to the Downtown Community
Gensler strategically selected a ground level retail space to enhance connection to the Denver community. The street level entry from Lawrence Street leads to the lobby, featuring a striking stadium staircase designed for maximum connectivity and to host public and private events. A coffee bar and café seating flanks the stair and provides additional opportunity for interaction and casual work zones.
The mid-level mezzanine, “The Design Lounge,” connects the lobby to the workplace and serves as a highly public collaboration zone. It features choices for working from lounge seating to standing height tables, pinup walls and state-of-the-art technology (Gensler Denver Fact Sheet).
This new space can accommodate a range of events including business panels, community events and learning programs.
Defining a High Performance Workplace
Workstations and meeting areas are highly flexible, allowing for complete user control. A range of space types and experiences provide a sense of creativity, connectedness, authenticity and innovation, allowing employees to fully engage in their environment.
At the heart of the workplace strategy is a new array of space types. The design team maximized the amount of flexible shared space to accommodate the needs to high-performing project teams.
Every employee is wireless-ready with the choice to work and collaborate literally anywhere, indoors and outdoors. Some of the work location options include the ground level coffee bar, the materials design studio, private booths, numerous standing height free address areas, as well as direct access to a plaza and outdoor green space on the exterior patio (Gensler Denver Fact Sheet).
Throughout the space, the design strategy promotes well-being through ergonomics, acoustics, air quality and interaction with nature. Some of the key features include sustainable LED lighting with motion sensors, low emitting materials, energy and water saving equipment and interior plantscaping. As part of the firm’s commitment to sustainability, Gensler’s Denver office is LEED V4 certified (Gensler Denver Fact Sheet).
