DOD Insider Tour | University of Denver: Contemporary Construction
Sunday, October 9, 2022
Join us for this in-person Doors Open Denver 2022 Insider Tour at the University of Denver. Two tour dates are available:
- Sunday, October 9, 9-10:30am
About the tour: Explore the newest buildings on the University of Denver’s campus with the architecture firms behind their eye-catching designs. Access the Burwell Center for Career Achievement, an innovative mass timber structure with LEED Platinum designation, and the copper-clad Community Commons, a dynamic student center with stunning rooftop views. Hear how the adjacent Dimond Family Residential Village was intentionally designed to work in concert with the other structures, integrating student life into the heart of the campus.
About the campus: Founded in 1864 as the Colorado Seminary, the University of Denver found a permanent home south of Denver two decades later. University Hall was the first building to be completed on the expansive new campus, with views out over the city and what is now the University Park neighborhood. Since its establishment, the 125-acre campus has grown to become home to about 12,000 graduate and undergraduate students.
About the tour guides: Kevin Eronimous, AIA, Principal, SAR+, joined the firm in 2005. He has a diverse background in the design of vertically integrated, mixed-use projects, with experience spanning the hospitality, office, planning and housing sectors. With his expertise, he has helped to lead complex assignments such as the award-winning Dairy Block project, MileHouse at Belleview Station, the 1480 Wewatta Aparthotel and the 1900 Lawrence high-rise office project in Denver’s central business district.
Erin Hillhouse, AIA, Principal, AndersonMasonDale Architects, has more than 20 years of experience managing complex, large-scale higher education laboratory and housing projects. Hillhouse is a highly skilled architect who champions design that is reinforced by his technical and programmatic expertise. Recent projects include successive international “Lab of the Year” winners—the MSU Denver AES Building and UW Enzi Educational [STEM] Facility—and DU’s Dimond Family Residential Village.
Jane Loefgren, Associate University Architect, University of Denver, has over forty years of experience in Design and Architecture and is a licensed architect.
