A Taste of the MSU Denver School of Hospitality | DOD 2026 Insider Tour

About the tour: MSU Denver’s School of Hospitality warmly invites Doors Open Denver attendees to be their student for the day! Located in downtown Denver, the School of Hospitality offers a range of educational programs, including hotel management, meetings & events, the culinary arts and food and beverage management, and brewery operations. On this tour, attendees will explore our experiential learning spaces where our students gain hands-on experience of every aspect of hospitality! Attendees will visit the brewery, training kitchens, sensory lab, and many other learning and event spaces.
About the building: The MSU Denver School of Hospitality’s top-notch campus facilities include two commercial-grade kitchens, a demonstration kitchen, a sensory lab, and a working brewery. In addition, the building houses a LEED Gold Springhill Suites hotel, and Degree Brewpub: while these will not be part of the tour, guests are welcome to explore them in their own time.
About the tour guides: Bernardo Alatorre Llamazares is the coordinator of the Brewery Operations Program at the School of Hospitality. Bernardo’s professional interests include social impact and distribution in the craft beer industry, brewing science, technology, operation, and sustainability. He helps in the brewing of student beer at our own Charlie Papazian Brewing Education Lab. Prior to MSU Denver, Bernardo held operations and quality positions in breweries from one thousand to two hundred and seventy million gallons per year, over a span of 30 years.
Lynn Minnaert, PhD, is the Dean of the School of Hospitality at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Her research interests include social tourism, family tourism, the social impacts of the Olympics, and social legacy initiatives in the meetings industry. Her research has attracted funding by a range of organizations such as the Economic and Social Research Council, the European Union, the International Olympic Committee, regional tourist boards, and Meeting Professionals International. Prior to joining MSU Denver, she held teaching and leadership positions at Edinburgh Napier University, New York University, the University of Surrey, and the University of Westminster.
Accessibility: The building is fully accessible with elevators to move between floors.
