Recap: Cheesman Park’s Spooky Past and Landscape Design Tour

On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, Andy Meessmann and Amy Von Thun, experts on landscape design and architecture, led us on a 60-minute walking tour of Cheesman Park.

The area we know as Cheesman Park today was originally Mount Prospect Cemetery, and intact human remains have been discovered as recently as 2010. Cheemsan is landscape architecture at it’s finest and a spooky example of a cemetery converted to park space. The tour was an opportunity to learn about Cheesman’s intriguing past and the foundations of landscape architecture.
