“I love Five Points. The neighborhood has so muc “I love Five Points. The neighborhood has so much history, stories from people who aren’t with us anymore. The more knowledge you have about a neighborhood, the more respect you have for it.”

—donnie l. betts (capitalization intentional), a Denver-based writer and producer who helped bring FIVE POINTS FORTITUDE to life

Join us this Thursday for our FIVE POINTS FORTITUDE launch party, and visit our website this Friday when the new audio tour becomes available to all.

Built in 1887 as the First German Methodist Episco Built in 1887 as the First German Methodist Episcopal Church, this Gothic Revival building on the corner of California and 25th includes intricate detailing, a towering bell tower, and pointed arch windows and entries, all prevalent in the late 19th century and familiar to the German community that lived in Five Points then. In the subsequent thirteen decades, the church became home to a Japanese Methodist congregation and now the Agape Christian Church, a mission-driven organization with a variety of community outreach programs in Five Points.

Visit this historic building and 12 others during our forthcoming FIVE POINTS FORTITUDE audio tour, which debuts on Friday, October 6, the first day of this year's Doors Open Denver.

“Tell me, do you remember when it was the place “Tell me, do you remember when it was the place to be, crowded smoke-filled clubs, Charles Burrell on bass, Joe Keel on keys. It was a soulful place, a place where we gathered as one—it used to be our village square.”

—from "Five Points" by musician Will Alston

This year's Doors Open Denver will celebrate the rich history of this important neighborhood through a pair of audio tours called Five Points Fortitude. Mark your calendars for October 6 to 16, when the tours will be available, for free. And join us this Thursday, October 5, for our Five Points Fortitude launch party!
